American style, Irish inland championship course near Dublin

Review

The North Course at the K Club will play host to the Ryder Cup in 2006 and is sure to impress players and spectators.

The legendary Arnold Palmer designed the course, which features water hazards at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th while a waterfall is a pleasant distraction at the 5th.

The 7th is another stunner - a long par 5 where a downhill drive and an accurate second will still leave you a tricky pitch over a stream. Basically, if your ball manages to make it round 18 holes without finding the drink your score should be respectable. The stretch of finishing holes are equally impressive, particularly the 15th and the awesome 16th where the green is practically surrounded by water. The final hole is a joy to play regardless of whether you've got a good score going or not. Take on this tough challenge and you'll have a story to tell at the 19th. The K Club hotel has 69 rooms each with a view over the gardens, river and golf course.

Best Hole: The final hole is a real risk-reward hole that can make or break your round in the final stages. It's an absolute beauty.
